Kamila Szymecka-Owen

About me:

My name is Kamila Szymecka – Owen. I am a psychologist, a graduate of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and a cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist. I conduct individual psychotherapy, psychological consultations and coaching. I work with adults and youth.

For several years, I have been cooperating with the Women’s Rights Center, where I conduct individual psychological consultations and short-term psychotherapy. I also gained clinical experience at the Wojewódzki Szpital Psychiatry im. Professor Tadeusz Bilikiewicz in Gdańsk, as well as in the Gdańsk Addiction Prevention Center. I have experience in working with people experiencing emotional crises (during and after trauma), difficulties in coping with stress, adaptive disorders, recurrent difficulties in relationships, impaired self-esteem, anxiety and depression, and perception of one’s body. I run therapeutic sessions in Polish and English, both in the office and online.

My qualifications and methods of work :

Working as a psychotherapist means for me a systematic improvement of qualifications and skills. I participate in a four-year preparatory program to obtain a psychotherapist’s certificate at the School of Cognitive-Behavioral Psychology at SWPS University (from 2017). I have also completed the first degree of Concentrated Therapy on Solutions at the TSR Center in Sopot and coaching training in accordance with ICF standards. I have completed numerous trainings in the field of psychological assistance and therapy: “Rights of persons experiencing domestic violence” and “Rights of persons experiencing sexual violence” organized by the Foundation for Women’s Rights – Branch in Gdańsk, “DDA – how to work, to understand, do not label? “Organized by the Association of Prevention of Social Prevention in Gdańsk (2018), training” Work with stress – basic techniques and methodology of conducting classes “at SWPS in Sopot (2014).

I regularly supervise my work. I am a member of the Polish Society for Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy. I rely on the cognitive-behavioral model – the first consultations are aimed at understanding the problem and setting the goals of therapy. Cognitive Behavior Therapy is a short-term therapy: the initial duration and principles of the therapeutic contract are set together with the client at the initial consultations
